Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy is the fighter Fort Bend County deserves, standing up For The People every single day. Down-to-earth, hardworking, and deeply connected to the communities he serves, Dexter leads with action: putting inclusion, fairness, and opportunity at the center of every decision.
He’s delivering real progress you can see, from expanding high-speed internet access to protecting the cultural heritage that makes Fort Bend unique, to driving improvements that uplift quality of life across every neighborhood.

Dexter is modernizing government to work better for you. His push for transparency and innovation is bringing results, including the Mobility Dashboard and a countywide 311 system, tools that make local government more open, more accountable, and more responsive.
With a leadership style grounded in empathy and a belief that every family deserves a fair shot, Dexter is proving what focused, people-first leadership can do, not someday, but right now.

Dexter grew up in Mission Bend and Fort Bend County shaped his opportunities.

After serving in the Obama administration, he came back home to work in Fort Bend ISD schools, where he fought for students and educators to get the support they deserve.
As County Commissioner, Dexter is helping to expand access to healthcare by building clinics in community centers and helping to bring the first medical education program to Fort Bend County, so that our seniors and families have healthcare they can count on. Among the many policy wins he has brought us, he delivered a higher minimum wage and paid parental leave for county employees because, as a father of two beautiful girls, he knows personally that families need support when it matters most.
We deserve a county where hardworking people keep more of what they earn. A county that builds opportunities — not barriers. And Dexter is fighting to make that real.
