ISSUES
I am from this community and this community made me who I am today.
We have dealt with reluctant leadership that has lacked the energy for the job, and I take that personally. My friends and neighbors deserve more. I am invested in Fort Bend because Fort Bend has invested so much in me and my family. I have a plan to bring new energy to our county leadership and to maximize our potential. To do this we must invest in what has always made our Fort Bend great: our people, our infrastructure, and our technology.
INVEST IN PEOPLE
INVEST IN PEOPLE
Invest in Workforce Development: Invest in people who will help grow critical industries in our community, including construction, nursing, early childhood education, advanced manufacturing, and software coding. We’ll make this happen by using the nearly half a billion dollars in workforce development grants available to our region. Let’s honor where Fort Bend has been and where it is going.
Pay a Living Wage: No one working on a Fort Bend County contract should have to live paycheck to paycheck. Every worker who builds the world-class facilities that allow us to deliver services must be paid a living wage that allows them to support their family. We will require minimum wage and benefit standards on all county contracts.
Uplift our Seniors & Children: Our seniors and our children are the essence of our greatness. We will Invest in senior care to deliver critical services and provide support for our working families. Through support for childcare and expansion of paid work experiences for our youth, we will play a larger role to ensure every resident thrives.
Bring Healthy Food to the People: No one in our community should live in a food desert. We will work to attract more neighborhood grocery stores so residents have healthy food options convenient to where they live.
INVEST IN INFRASTRUCTURE
INVEST IN INFRASTRUCTURE
Develop Infrastructure to Support & Grow our Businesses: Develop incentive programs that attract new businesses and create more high-paying jobs in Fort Bend County. We will invest in infrastructure to relieve the burden on our local businesses who wish to grow and attract world-class restaurants, retail, and more to Fort Bend.
End Unnecessary Flooding in Homes: No one should ever fear they may lose everything because of the next rain event. We will invest in levees and drainage, fight federal increases in insurance premiums, and make real investments, rather than patchwork solutions, for keeping water out of our most vulnerable communities.
Fix Our Streets: With traffic deaths increasing 45% in the last year, let’s address issues on highways and make sensible traffic control plans that consider our safety and that of our families.
INVEST IN TECHNOLOGY
INVEST IN TECHNOLOGY
Expand Broadband Services: Too many residents have been without high-speed broadband for too long. We will provide internet connectivity to our rural communities who need it to do business that will help them to thrive and build a better community.
Improve County Services: Make the county government accountable to the taxpayers. When you need a pothole filled, a ride to an appointment, or support signing up for veteran benefits, you should know who to call and be able to track the progress of getting the support you need. We will use technology and public-private partnerships to make our government services easier to use for taxpayers and provide the support our citizens deserve.
Create More Jobs in Fort Bend: Keeping our job market competitive will mean growing the jobs of the future. We will continue to make Fort Bend a destination community for advanced manufacturing and grow our regional exports.
